The FUSE Team has developed a set of five Mashup Challenges in real design fields: Fashion Design, Game Design, Media Production, Industrial Design and Architecture. These challenges are designed for students who have worked through many of the FUSE Challenges and will welcome an opportunity to synthesize the things they've learned.
The FUSE Mashup Challenges each leverage expertise in multiple challenges. These are not pre-requisites. These are designed so that students can work in flexible groupings or on their own.
Fashion Design: Electric Apparel, Eye Candy, Jewelry Designer
Game Design: Get in the Game, Game Designer, VR Escape Room, Friend Finder
Media Production: Beats Builder, Video Magic Tricks, Music Amplifier, Party Lights
Industrial Design: Keychain Customizer, Cookie Customizer, Print My Ride, Friend Finder, Balancing Act
Architecture: Dream Home, Dream Home 2, Smart Castle
Where can I find the FUSE Mashup Challenges?
The Challenges are attached below as a PDF, or are available in a Google Slides presentation. We designed the materials to be flexible and adaptable. Create a copy of our presentation and make it your own!
How will I use these Mashup Challenges?
- Use as a 'break' from traditional FUSE
- Use as new challenges for a FUSE Fair, or as a capstone event for your studio.
- Offer to students who are looking for new design opportunities.
How can I follow student progress on the Mashup Challenges?
To track work on these Challenges in the FUSE Studio, ask the students to use the My Ideas tool to store their project work. Encourage students to upload work in progress and save reflections in the Notes field on their Ideas.
The My Ideas tool can be turned on in the Facilitator Toolkit under the Settings Tab.
