This is the OLD version of the challenge and it is not recommended. Please use the OnShape version of the challenge. In Print My Ride, students will design and 3d print a car using simple geometry.
What You Should Know
We recommend the OnShape version of the challenge because it is much more 3d printing friendly. The Sketchup software is capable of creating models for 3d printing but was never designed to do so, and complications arise more often as a res
After finding the profile (side view) of a car they like, students will draw an outline of the car using the online 3D modeling software Sketchup. The flat images are pulled into the third dimension and exported as .gcode files for slicing.
Toothpicks will come in handy in the later levels to act as axles for the the wheels.They can be found in the General Studio Supplies Kit.
