In 2020, 3D You was moved to 'Legacy' status because the Kinect is no longer available for distribution to our new studios. This challenge is no longer being actively supported, but studios that have the technology available can still access the challenge in the Legacy section of the Challenge Management tab in the Facilitator Toolkit.

In 3D You, students will manipulate existing 3D models and later use a 3D scanner to create a digital model of them self to be 3D printed.
What you should know:
The more room you have to be able to use the scanner, the better. A 2 yard radius around the target to be scanned should work well.
Skanect (the software that operates the 3D scanner) has given some users difficulties. It will not always detect that the XBox 360 Kinect scanner is plugged in if the right preparations are not made.
The scanner needs to be plugged in to both the computer via USB and to a power outlet using the provided cord.
District firewalls can prevent the computer from acknowledging the Skanekt scanner. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if your school is having difficulty getting the scanner to work.
Skanect has had issues in some school districts getting permission to use the XBOX 360 Kinect Scanner.
Please test Skanect's functionality before making the challenge available.
