Game Designer is a popular challenge that tasks students with making alterations to the timeless Mario game.
What You Should Know
Sometimes, when you first open Stencyl, it will ask you to create or sign in to an account, this is not necessary and the dialog box can be closed.
Make sure that Stencyl is working on your classrooms machines before opening this challenge, as it may present difficulties in some circumstances. If you do encounter any problems please email email@example.com so we can try and find a solution that that addresses your particular needs. Take note of any error message you encounter as you go through the installation and testing process and record .log files of the errors if prompted with this option.
When students run into issues, namely inconsistencies between what they see on in the demonstration and the options they are presented in the software, it often has to do with modifications that they made in earlier levels that are not consistent with the instructional videos. Reloading a fresh download of the game file and starting again often resolves this.
This challenge is not compatible with Chromebooks, so if possible have a few computers in the classroom that run Windows or Mac OS to allow for Stencyl to be installed.
