The Child Online Privacy and Protection Act mandates that all students under 13 years old receive parental permission when creating accounts for online applications or services. If any of the students you serve are under 13 and will be accessing FUSE, you will need to secure their parents' permission to create an account of fusestudio.net.
Is there a FUSE permission slip?
Yes, there is. Attached to the bottom on this article is a parent packet which includes a one-pager about FUSE as well as a permission slip. You can download this packet, print it, and have your students take it home for their parents to sign. Also attached is a Spanish language version of the permission slip.
Digital permission slip
For digital versions of the permission slips, you can make Google Forms copies from the following links by clicking on the 3 dots shown in the photo below (note: you need to be signed in to a Gmail account)
What happens after I get the permission slips back?
When a student enters a birthday on the FUSE website that indicates they are under 13, the site will require that you verify that they have parental permission. You will do this by entering your password on their sign up page. You do not need to send the completed permission forms back to FUSE.
What about students who do not get parental permission?
Great question. Even if a student does not get permission to create an account, they will not be blocked from participating in FUSE. Please click here for an article that discusses this situation.
